UDIFF Catalogue changes

Central Depository Services (India) Limited, vide Communiqué No. CDSL/OPS/DP/POLCY/2026/511 dated July 29, 2026, has announced an important update regarding postponement of UDIFF Catalogue Version 3.0.1.2 file format changes and revised implementation timelines.

Key Details of the Update –
• CDSL has postponed the implementation of the file format changes in UDIFF Catalogue Version 3.0.1.2 to August 28, 2026, based on feedback received from Depository Participants (DPs) and back-office vendors.
• The UDIFF catalogue changes relating to introduction and modification of standard values will continue to be implemented as scheduled on July 31, 2026.
• BO Upload and Client Master Report Changes:
• Disability: Existing field "MENTAL DISABILITY" renamed to "DISABILITY" with introduction of new standard values; scheduled for July 31, 2026 (EOD).
• Darpan ID: New field introduced to capture DARPAN Registration ID for Non-Profit Organization (NPO) demat accounts; scheduled for August 28, 2026 (EOD).
• Nomination: "No Nomination Flag / Opt-out of Nomination Flag" becomes applicable and mandatory for CDSL BO Upload; scheduled for August 28, 2026 (EOD).
• Centralized Death Reporting (CDR): New purpose code "DR" (Demise Reporting) introduced along with field description changes to capture deceased holder details; implementation date to be communicated separately.
• Transaction Upload and COD Changes:
• New Freeze-related fields "Regulatory Authority Details", "Order Type", and "Order Date" introduced; scheduled for August 28, 2026 (EOD).
• Freeze Description Other: Existing field names revised, with mandatory capture of freeze description where Freeze Reason Code is "Others"; scheduled for August 28, 2026 (EOD).
• Non-Disclosure Undertaking (NDU): "Termination Date" field renamed to "Termination Date/Cancellation Date"; scheduled for August 28, 2026 (EOD).
• Corporate Action: New "Original CA Type" field introduced in COD; scheduled for August 28, 2026 (EOD).
• ISIN Rate Master: "PRICE" field length increased from DECIMAL (16,3) to DECIMAL (22,9); scheduled for August 28, 2026 (EOD).
• Updated UDIFF Catalogue Version 3.0.1.2 highlights all changes in yellow and includes an updated change log sheet.
• Applicability: Applicable to all CDSL Depository Participants (DPs).
• Effective Date: July 31, 2026 for Disability-related standard value changes; August 28, 2026 for postponed file format and module-specific changes, except where a separate implementation date will be notified.
• Key Changes: File format changes under UDIFF Catalogue Version 3.0.1.2 have been deferred to August 28, 2026, while previously announced standard value changes remain effective from July 31, 2026.

Actions if Any –
• Download and review the updated UDIFF Catalogue Version 3.0.1.2 from the CDSL website.
• Incorporate the required changes in back-office software in line with the revised implementation schedule.
• Take note of separate communications that will be issued for the Centralized Death Reporting (CDR) functionality and certain other module-specific changes.

Compliance Deadline –
• Implement Disability-related standard value changes by July 31, 2026 (EOD).
• Implement the postponed UDIFF file format and module-specific changes by August 28, 2026 (EOD), except for functionalities for which CDSL will separately communicate the implementation date.
