National Securities Depository Limited, vide Circular No. NSDL/POLICY/2026/0098 dated July 9, 2026, has announced an important update regarding enhancements in the NSDL Depository System – UDiFF Catalogue V3.0.1.2.

Key Details of the Update –

• NSDL has released UDiFF Catalogue V3.0.1.2 incorporating enhancements to standardized file formats and operational processes to improve depository operations.

• Applicability: All NSDL Participants.

• BO Upload and Client Master related changes:
• DARPAN ID will now be captured in a dedicated "Darpan ID" field (ISO Tag: DrpanId) instead of the earlier reserved field.
• Participants are required to obtain and retain the DARPAN ID while opening new demat accounts for Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) in accordance with the FIU-India notification.

• Special Purpose Flag enhancements:
• SF – SWAGAT-FI.
• SG – SWAGAT-FI & GSec.

• Centralized Death Reporting (CDR) enhancements:
• A new Purpose Code "DR" (Demise Reporting) has been introduced.
• Existing BO Upload and Client Master Report fields have been reused/renamed to capture details of a demised account holder until transmission or holder deletion.
• New Special Purpose Flag values introduced:
• KRI – KRA Intimated.
• KNI – KRA Not Intimated.
• A separate operational circular for CDR implementation will be issued.

• Transaction Upload and COD related changes:
• A new "Regulatory Authority Details" field has been added to capture and print the name, address, phone number and email address of the regulatory authority issuing an order.
• A separate operational circular will be issued for capturing regulatory authority details relating to freezing of demat accounts.

• Key Changes: The circular introduces revised UDiFF file formats, new ISO tags, DARPAN ID field mapping, additional Special Purpose Flag values, Centralized Death Reporting fields, and Regulatory Authority Details in transaction uploads and COD formats.

• Effective Date: The enhancements in UDiFF Catalogue V3.0.1.2 shall be effective from July 31, 2026.

Actions if Any –

• Participants should inform their NPO clients to obtain a DARPAN ID and ensure it is obtained before opening new demat accounts for NPOs.

• Participants should implement the prescribed changes in their back-office systems for the revised UDiFF Catalogue V3.0.1.2.

• Participants should plan and complete the mandatory upgrade of the Local DPM system to the new software version.

• Participants should note that separate operational circulars will be issued for Centralized Death Reporting and Regulatory Authority Details.

Compliance Deadline –

• UDiFF Catalogue V3.0.1.2 enhancements shall be implemented with effect from July 31, 2026.

• Participants should upgrade the mandatory Local DPM software version prior to August 7, 2026.
