Extension of timelines with repect to compliance of Digital Accessibility Circulars

Securities and Exchange Board of India, vide Circular No. HO/(411)2026-ITD-5_DIV2/I/17922/2026 dated July 31, 2026, has announced an important update regarding Extension of timelines with respect to compliance of Digital Accessibility Circulars.

Key Details of the Update –
• SEBI has extended the timeline for compliance relating to the Conduct of Accessibility Audit for digital platforms and Remediation of audit findings prescribed under the Digital Accessibility Circulars.

• Applicability: The extension applies to all Regulated Entities (REs) covered under the following SEBI Digital Accessibility Circulars issued pursuant to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016:
• SEBI/HO/ITD-1/ITD_VIAP/P/CIR/2025/111 dated July 31, 2025.
• SEBI/HO/ITD-1/ITD_VIAP/P/CIR/2025/121 dated August 29, 2025.
• SEBI/HO/ITD-1/ITD_VIAP/P/CIR/2025/131 dated September 25, 2025.
• HO/13/19/13(2)2025-ITD-1_VIAP/I/187/2025 dated December 08, 2025v.

• SEBI has granted the extension after receiving representations from Regulated Entities requesting additional time to comply with the requirements of the above-mentioned circulars.

• Effective Date: The circular is issued on July 31, 2026, with the revised compliance timeline applicable immediately.

• Key Changes: The deadline for conducting the Accessibility Audit and completing remediation of audit findings has been extended to October 31, 2026. All other provisions of the earlier Digital Accessibility Circulars remain unchanged and continue to be applicable.

• Penalty/Consequence: Not Mentioned.

Actions if Any –
• Regulated Entities should complete the Accessibility Audit of their digital platforms by the revised timeline.

• Regulated Entities should complete remediation of findings identified during the audit by October 31, 2026.

• Continue complying with all other provisions of the previously issued Digital Accessibility Circulars, which remain unchanged.

Compliance Deadline –
• October 31, 2026 – Deadline for conducting the Accessibility Audit of digital platforms and completing remediation of audit findings by all applicable Regulated Entities.
